    Dear Families,

     

    I am so excited to start the 2025-2026 School Year by extending a warm welcome to our new preschool families and students and welcome back to our returning students here at School #1 in Woodland Park!

     

    Let me begin by introducing myself.  My name is Elis Francisco and I am humbled and honored to serve as the Principal at School 1.  I have been working in the field of Early Childhood since 2005 serving in various capacities, such as Preschool Assistant, Preschool 3 &4 Teacher, Instructional Preschool Coach, and Preschool Intervention and Referral Specialist.  Over the course of my career in education,  I taught children in grades Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and Fifth Grade.  I earned my Bachelors of Elementary Education and Psychology with a minor in Early Childhood from Rider University in 2009.  After teaching for over a decade,  I obtained my Masters in Educational Administration at Rowan University in 2023. 

     

    I am proud to announce that Woodland Park has been designated as a high-quality Preschool Program!  We remain committed to honoring and maintaining student development at their own pace and take priority in meeting individual student needs.  This is accomplished through the utilization of Creative Curriculum and the Pyramid Model for Social Emotional competencies.  Rest assured, that our PreSchool instructional team is highly trained in best practices and early childhood education and implements the most up-to-date research and teaching practices for our Preschool age students.

     

    Please be reminded that a parent’s role in the education of a child is essential.  Be sure to check our website for the most up-to-date news and announcements.  Also be certain to check your email regularly.  Take some 



    time to navigate through the school and district websites where you will find information regarding policies, general procedures, and connections to various resources. 

     

    Information for Parents: 

     

    • The Parent Portal will open to Parents on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

    • The First day of School is Thursday, September 4th, 2025.  

    • If you did not attend Preschool Orientation, you may pick up a preschool packet with further information on the Preschool program at the Early Childhood Center located at 377 Lackawanna Ave.

    • Save the Date: Back-to-School Night will be held Thursday, September 18th at School 1. During this evening, teachers will share an overview of the year’s program, curriculum, schedules, and expectations.

    Nurse’s Office Reminder

    Please submit all medical documentation to your school nurse before the start of the new school year. Examples of required documents include:

    • Physical examination forms

    • Updated immunization records

    • Medical action plans

    • Allergy action plans
