Hello! My name is Miss Indri and I am the School Counselor for Charles Olbon Elementary. This page will provide you with information about the School Counseling program, upcoming counseling-related activities, and counseling resources.

    What is a School Counselor?

I am a certified, trained, and caring professional who works with all students, parents, teachers, staff and the community, in order for every student to achieve academic and social success. School counseling services are delivered in four specific ways:

Classroom Counseling - designing and teaching classroom lessons to help students develop certain competencies (personal, social, academic) and to meet specific needs of the school population

Individual Student Planning - assisting students with goal formation (behavioral, academic, etc.)

Responsive Services - meeting immediate student needs (counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, referral, peer mediation, information-providing)

System Support -  consulting with other professionals, coordination of various supports for students and families

How can your child experience school counseling services?

Schoolwide Programs - Along with the counselors from Beatrice Gilmore and Memorial Middle School, I will coordinate schoolwide programs such as The Week of Respect, School Violence Awareness Week, Red Ribbon Week and more!

Individual Counseling - I may work with a student in a positive, safe, and confidential setting to address issues that "get in the way" of school achievement. The topics are based on the needs of the student and may include: understanding feelings, changing families/divorce, grief, stress, anger, self-esteem, social skills, academics, bullying, problem-solving and decision-making.

Small Group Counseling - A process where students sharing similar issues or concerns work together in a small group environment consisting of 3-6 peers. Topics are based on the needs of the students and may include any of those listed above for individual counseling.

Classroom Counseling Lessons - Classroom lessons are scheduled based on the needs of the school community. They address personal, social, and academic-related needs at the child's developmental level. Topics may include: tattling/reporting, friendship, responsibility, respect, teasing/bullying, cooperation, and peer pressure.

School Counseling Mission: As the School Counselor of Charles Olbon Elementary, my mission is to help all students develop and enhance their academic, social, emotional and personal strengths in order to become responsible, successful and productive citizens.

I am very excited for another year working with the students, parents, and staff of Woodland Park. Please read the "About Me" section to learn more about how I made my journey into school counseling. I am looking forward to a great school year!

If you have any questions, concerns or would like to set up a time to meet, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Sincerely,

    Danielle Indri
